Five Home Remedies for Dry Hair

As a woman, you probably dream about having healthy, shiny hair. Pollution, hot styling tools, using harsh shampoos, sun, wind, dry air, and chemical treatments all dry out your hair. Fortunately, there are many simple treatments you can use at home to keep your hair moisturized and healthy. Best of all, you probably already have many of these ingredients in your kitchen.

Butter: A small amount of butter will help your dry, brittle hair shine. Massage some butter into your hair when it’s dry, and cover your head with a shower cap. Allow the butter to stay in your hair for a half an hour before you shampoo it. Be sure to rinse all of the butter out of your hair before styling it for the day.

Hot Oil Treatment: Using this hot oil treatment on your hair once a week will help you get healthier, shinier, and softer hair. Mix two tablespoons almond oil, two tablespoons jojoba oil, two tablespoons olive oil, and two tablespoons coconut oil together in a medium-sized pan. Heat the oils to a lukewarm, not hot, temperature. Massage the oil mixture into your hair, and cover your head with a towel. Allow the oil treatment to stay on your hair for a half an hour before you wash it out with a mild shampoo.

Mayonnaise: Mayonnaise can also help you get healthier hair. Apply one cup of full-fat mayonnaise to slightly damp hair. Start at your scalp, and massage the mayonnaise into your hair down to its ends. Cover your head with a shower cap, and allow the mayonnaise to stay in your hair for one hour before washing it out. Repeat once a week to moisturize dry, brittle hair.

Eggs: Eggs are great for dry, brittle hair, giving your hair an instant shine. Separate two egg yolks from their whites. Add three tablespoons of water. Beat the mixture until it’s slightly fluffy. Apply the mixture to your hair, and cover with a shower cap. Allow the mixture to stay on your hair for half an hour before you wash it out with cool water.

Avocado and Banana Hair Mask: Avocados are great at sealing moisture into your hair,, and bananas can make your hair softer and stronger. Peel and mash one banana and one avocado together in a bowl until there are no more lumps in the mixture. Put the mixture into your hair, and allow it to stay on your head for half an hour. Rinse your hair with cool or lukewarm water.
